This event has been the opportunity to confirm the significant engagement in the fight of schistosomiasis. Beyond the Merck Praziquantel Donation Program, the cooperative effort of the Global Schistosomiasis Alliance, as well as the ongoing educational and awareness programs, the extensive Press coverage* was clearly acknowledging the important role that the Pediatric Praziquantel Consortium is playing in the context of the actions towards the elimination of the disease.  The development of a suitable pediatric formulation to treat schistosomiasis in pre-school age children is, indeed, a pressing need to fulfil the current treatment gap.

The event in Ivory Coast also showcased the powerful synergies of the Consortium partners and confirmed the extensive expertise that SCI has acquired in working with Ministries of Health across sub-Saharan Africa for the control and potential elimination of schistosomiasis.  SCI' s engagement and lead role in interacting with the representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ivory Coast was outstanding at the event.
